Compare

RealDream compared to seven North Shore renovation companies.

Picking a renovation contractor on the North Shore is hard because everybody's website says the same three things. These pages do the boring part for you: what each company actually publishes about its work, where it operates, what it specialises in, and which projects it is the better fit for. Including the ones where the answer is not RealDream.

The short answer

RealDream Contracting is a renovation-only general contractor based in North Vancouver, BC, serving North Vancouver and West Vancouver. This section compares RealDream against seven real North Shore and Lower Mainland renovation companies: Heilman Renovations, Goldcon Construction, Renovate Me, Arani Construction, Platinum Contracting, My House Design/Build/Team, and North Shore Carpentry & Construction. Each comparison is built from facts published on the competitor's own website in August 2026, lists the competitor's genuine strengths, and names the project types where the competitor is the better hire. RealDream's own position is narrow by design: renovation only, no new custom home construction, North Shore first, owner-led from the first site visit through the final deficiency list.

Lower Mainland design-build.

Larger multi-department firms headquartered off the North Shore that take North Shore work. More in-house capability, more overhead, and a project manager rather than an owner on your file.

Our position

What RealDream is, and what it deliberately is not.

Most of the companies on this page do more than RealDream does. That is on purpose, and it is the whole argument.

Renovation is what we do

Kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and whole-home rebuilds are the entire business, not a side line next to new construction.

Fixed-price confidence

Once scope and drawings are locked, the price holds. No surprise invoices for conditions an experienced renovator should have expected.

Constant consultation

Frequent, clear communication keeps the project aligned from planning through completion. You hear about changes the same day.

Design-led selections

Material and finish choices happen with a designer, at the right point in the build sequence, so trades never wait on decisions.

Livable job sites

Dust containment, daily cleanup, and staged work zones, because most clients live in the home while we renovate it.

What we do not have

No awards record, no Renomark certification, no third-party warranty programme, and we do not build new homes or take small repair jobs. Several companies on this page have all of that. If those are the things that settle your decision, hire one of them.

Questions about comparing North Shore contractors

How many renovation contractors should I get quotes from?

Three is the usual advice and it holds up on the North Shore. On any renovation over roughly $75,000, get three site visits and three written scopes, then compare the scopes line by line rather than comparing the totals. The lowest number is often the one carrying the thinnest allowance for what turns up behind the walls, which on a 1960s to 1980s North Vancouver house is usually an undersized electrical panel, galvanized supply lines, or a drainage problem on a sloped lot.

Who wrote these comparison pages?

RealDream Contracting wrote them, which is a conflict of interest and is stated at the bottom of every page. To keep them useful anyway, every claim about another company was taken from that company's own public website in August 2026 and the source is linked. Each comparison also names the project types where the other firm is the better hire.

What makes RealDream Contracting different from other North Shore renovators?

Three things, and none of them are awards. RealDream does renovation only, having stopped taking new custom home construction in 2026, so no new build competes for the same crew. The price holds once scope and drawings are locked, with no surprise invoices for conditions an experienced renovator should have expected. And the owner, Nima Gerani, meets owners at the first site visit and stays on the file until the last deficiency item is signed off.

Which North Shore renovation companies have the most industry awards?

Among the companies compared here, My House Design/Build/Team states over 100 industry awards including BC Renovator of the Year seven years running. Goldcon Construction holds a 2019 CHBA National Award for Best Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000 and a 2021 Georgie Award. Renovate Me has eight consecutive Best of Houzz Client Satisfaction awards from 2017 to 2024. Platinum Contracting was a HAVAN 2024 and Georgie 2025 finalist and is Renomark certified. RealDream Contracting publishes no awards record.

Does RealDream Contracting build new custom homes?

No. RealDream stopped taking new custom home construction in 2026 and now works on renovation only: kitchens, bathrooms, basements and legal secondary suites, whole-home renovations, home additions, laneway and coach houses, and commercial renovation. For a new home on the North Shore, Goldcon Construction, Platinum Contracting and My House Design/Build/Team all build them.

Will RealDream take on small repair jobs?

No. RealDream quotes full renovation scopes where design, permits, trades and finishing sit under one contract, and that process costs more than it is worth on a small job. For repairs, finish carpentry and smaller work on the North Shore, North Shore Carpentry & Construction has taken that kind of job since 1999.

About these comparisons

RealDream Contracting wrote these pages. We have an obvious interest in how they read, so we have kept every competitor claim to what that company publishes on its own website and linked the source at the bottom of each page. Where another firm is the better hire for a particular project, we say so by name. If you spot something out of date about your company here, email info@realdream.ca and we will correct it.

Last checked 2026-08-04. Every company named here is independent and is not affiliated with RealDream Contracting. All company names and trade marks belong to their owners.
